We love spreading the word about the music we’re into, both new and old. And we think we do pretty darn good job between booking shows, writing features on artists, and letting you know about upcoming events. With this weekly series, we aim to deliver new/current music to you in a quick, consumable way. Every Tuesday, we’ll share some new music with you! Free Tunes Tuesday features more than just artists/bands with ties to Cellar Door, it’s a megaphone for whatever we’re hearing out there that we think should be heard more.
Song: Erie (Promise Me)
August 31 at the Grog Shop
I first met Stephanie Trivison (These Knees) at Brite Winter Fest two years ago. We were both playing at the Market Avenue Wine Bar in Ohio City. It had been a while since I had last played so I was feeling pretty rusty. And come to think of it, it was the last time I played live. So I was feeling a bit uneasy, and seeing Steph play didn’t ease that feeling at ALL. In fact it made it worse, because she was so good. It was just her and a violin player, and I was immediately drawn in by the strength of the songs. Some bands can be great bands but they really only have 1 or 2 hooks that really dig in and get stuck in your head- every song she sang had that kind of infectious melody.
Since then, Cellar Door has teamed up with These Knees a number of times. First at our space with The Commonwealth and Joshua Jesty, then again at the Yelp! Elite Party at Cellar Door, and finally they graciously filled in last minute when we had a drop out on our Bethesda show.
We are very excited to be teaming up with These Knees again, this time at the Grog Shop with a couple of bands we’ll be working with for the first time. We’ve had our eye on Tracy Morgan Freeman and Silverlights for quite a while now, and we’re stoked to have all three of these bands on one bill on August 31st.
These Knees is getting ready to release their next album and we’ve got a great new track to share with you. Take a listen to “Erie (Promise Me)” below. If this song doesn’t put a little extra pep in your step for the rest of the day, well, you’re dead inside.
